This article discusses the main results of a qualitative research whose objective was to show how users and free/open source software developers build a speech on social transformations from the recognition of the difference between normative schemes of proprietary software and cognitive schemes of free/open source software. This difference, that seems to be merely a technical difference based on the improvement performance of a computer, it acquires a relevant social and political sense, claiming values such as cooperation and altruism. The results show news regarding the characteristics of classical social movements, mainly around its organization, participation and role of its members, the dissemination of its principles and the observation of changes in society.
