Abstract

This article deals with one of the public school issues that cause most of the social concern and public opinion impact in our country: violence in schools. Specifically, the paper presents partial of a quantitative and qualitative study developed in primary and secondary public schools, during 2009 in the Region of Valparaíso, concerning the influence of school management on the phenomenon of violence in schools. The results represent key findings related to perceptions teachers and students regarding  violence in schools its relationship with the challenges this brings in at the level of school management and public policy.
