Some authors have commentes the need to seek new paradigms to study leadership, one of them is to recognize the social nature of this process. This work is framed on this fashion of proposal: to consider the perception of the members of a group on the directive skills of its leaders as an element that influences the construction of the legitimacy of the power conferred by the position or charge he or she occupies. We applied the Directive Skills Scale to 171 workers, all of them part of one of the seven working parties that integrated the sample. The participants assessed their respective leader and, with the collected data, an ordinal regression analysis was carried out to find that the abilities of human relations and those of shared vision are good predictors of the perception of the subordinates about the adequacy of their leader for his or her position, the quality of their performance as a leader, and the respect that they have earned to themselves, being these some of the indicators of legitimacy proposed in the literature.Published
