Health promotion promotes enhancing and boosting the allocation of resources beyond just focusing on disease prevention. This paper describes an experience with women in the field of health promotion using a clinical community approach. We used the method of Participatory Action Research with techniques such as participatory workshops, questionnaires, interviews, individual therapeutic sessions and reflexive teams. Results include an analysis of the experience based on the proposal by Pancer and Nelson (1996) from a health promotion standpoint with the help of clinical community psychology. The discussion emphasizes the importance of an active involvement of people and prioritizing depth and not just coverage as a strategy that makes real changes possible in the medium and long term.Published
