Critical studies of masculinities have nearly 30 years of history in Latin America and are consolidated in social psychology, as well as in other related interdisciplinary areas, with important dialogues with the feminist movement and feminist theories. Cultural masculinity is the set of representations, values, ideals, and instituted social practices through which men confront helplessness and adversity. It can be observed that the field of men's mental health and clinical interventions with this population has not received sufficient attention from research and academia. This Thematic Section of Psychoperspectives is developed from the need to investigate and promote the field of male mental health. Researching and reflecting on these subjective gender processes in those who identify as men, whether in the heteronorma or in the diversity of masculinity constructions, offers inputs to design clinical interventions more involved with gender equality and diversity. In the same way, it is necessary to move towards a clinic committed to gender criticism and transformation, seeking as a secondary benefit that men have healthier behaviors in their relationships and with their environment, not only with themselves.Downloads
