The study of educational strategies of the privileged sectors, arouses particular interest among Social Sciences, as a way to understand the production of inequalities and processes of social segregation. Possibly presuming less conflictive relational frameworks due to their self-procured nature, the academic production has explored to a lesser extent the way in which strategies of social closure of the referred sectors influence daily school conflict and relationships within youth sociability. This is a dimension that the varied literature available has researched primarily from the experience of the most vulnerable groups. From a qualitative approach, we explore the constructions of selfhood and otherness among students in a traditional school in the city of Córdoba, Argentina, within a complex plot that involves social class, family, and school. Our findings show youngsters´ ways of (re)signifying the ideals institutionally offered, in which experiences of accompaniment between peers are marked by a long-term temporality. But, also, account for marginal experiences of suffering, framed in what we call 'the pain of not belonging'.Downloads
