Author Guidelines

Psicoperspectivas publishes manuscripts that communicate research results (qualitative, quantitative or mixed); systematic literature reviews (developed under the criteria of the PRISMA Declaration); and systematizations of interventions on relevant and current topics within the field of Psychology in relation to the Social Sciences.

The Editorial Team will evaluate the pertinence of the thematic and current relevance of the sources of information of the manuscripts received.

We do not accept articles previously published in any other media - printed, digital or electronic (this includes blogs, self-archiving and pre-publication systems).
We also do not accept articles authored by undergraduate students; theoretical essays, critical reflections, instrument validations, or articles related to the field of neuroscience.
We do not publish articles by the same authors before the 24-month deadline (in order to guarantee plurality of ideas and authors). Those authors may submit a new manuscript after 18 months from the previous publication.

Return of manuscripts
As part of the submission process, authors are required to verify that their manuscript meets all the elements indicated in the Checklist; otherwise, the document will be returned to the submitter(s).

If after six months the journal has not found suitable reviewers for an article, or at least two peer reviewers' reports have not been obtained, the document will be returned to the author(s) to facilitate its submission to another journal.

Number of authors
The Editorial Team reserves the right to accept or reject those articles that are suspected of having a number of authors that does not correspond proportionally to the research work presented.

Endogamy
Committed to avoid endogamy, the authors of 10% of our publications may have institutional affiliation corresponding to the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso.

Payments
Psicoperspectivas is a publication without associated costs.
In return, we ask the author(s), when registering to submit a manuscript, to also register as reviewers, and if their article is published, to agree to evaluate a manuscript of their expertise in the two years following the publication of their article (one paper per year), thus contributing to the quality of the publications.

What types of manuscripts does Psychoperspectives receive?
Only three types of articles: research, literature review, and description of the systematization of an intervention.

- Research article
The content of articles reporting research, whether quantitative, qualitative, or mixed, must be organized according to APA norms 7th edition (2020) and present the following sections:

  • Introduction (This section does not require a heading);
  • Method;
  • Results;
  • Discussion and Conclusion (Discussion can be incorporated into Results); and
  • References.

The content of each section is described in the text of the APA Style and in the description of the JARS standards available at https://www.apa.org/pubs/journals/resources/apa-style-jars.

- Systematic literature reviews
In the case of systematic literature reviews, the literature should adhere to the PRISMA Statement in its entirety (http://www.prisma-statement.org/).
The submitted document should include a brief description of the adopted protocol and nominate its sections accordingly.

- Intervention systematization
Detailed description of the planning and implementation of individual or group devices, identifying the important variables that bring together the subjects of the intervention (e.g., motive, specific topic of interest, patient diagnosis, etc.), considering the results obtained by the intervention; if relevant, elaborating clinical theory or discussing the existing theory on the variable or topic that originates the intervention. The systematization would consider specific interventions by professionals and/or therapists at different moments or phases of the process: initial phase (diagnostic/motivational), middle phase (elaboration/action), and final phase (conclusion of the process and follow-up).

The intervention systematization should present the content distributed in the following sections:

  • Introduction (this section does not require a heading);
  • Description of the intervention;
  • Systematization of the experience;
  • Discussion, and
  • References.

In what languages does Psicoperspectivas publish?
We receive and publish manuscripts in Spanish, English or Portuguese.

In order to broaden the scope and citation potential of the articles, articles in English are welcome. The proper translation of the document is the responsibility of the authors.

Translations
Psicoperspectivas is willing to add the English version of articles accepted or previously published in the journal, in Spanish or Portuguese. In this case, please send the translation to the Editor-in-Chief, requesting the incorporation of the file. Although the translation is the responsibility of the authors, it must adhere to the original document.

Collaborator Role Taxonomy (CRediT)
Seeking transparency and openness, Psicoperspectivas adopted the Contributor Role Taxonomy (CRediT) to describe the individual contributions of each author to the work. CRediT offers authors the opportunity to share a detailed description of their various contributions to a manuscript. This statement should be included in the Letter of Originality and when registering the manuscript metadata. Authors should indicate the contributions of all authors according to the roles defined by the CRediT taxonomy and available for consultation at https://credit.niso.org/.

If the manuscript is accepted for publication, the final version of the paper will publish the CRediT designations as a statement of the authors' contributions. All authors must have reviewed and agreed upon their individual contribution(s) prior to submission; it is possible to claim credit for more than one contributor role, and the same role may be attributed to more than one person. Moreover, not all roles will be applicable to a particular academic paper.

Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
When authors use artificial intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process, they should only do so to improve readability and language. The application of technology should be done with human oversight and control, and authors should carefully review and edit the output, as AI may generate results that appear authoritative but may be incorrect, incomplete, or biased.
AI and AI-assisted technologies should not be listed as author or co-author, nor cited as author. Authorship implies responsibilities and tasks that can only be attributed to and performed by humans.
Authors should mention the use of AI and AI-assisted technologies in the process of writing their manuscript in the Letter of Originality. In case of publication of the article the journal will include a note to this effect.

How to prepare the manuscript?
Articles should adhere to the publication guidelines of the Publication Style Manual of the American Psychological Association, (APA, 7th ed., 2020), Professional paper(https://apastyle.apa.org/).

Blinded article
There should be no information about the authors, such as names, institutional affiliations and references that may break anonymity, nor the projects in which the manuscript is registered, nor the institution that approved the research design. It is necessary to make sure of this because the file will be sent to peer reviewers.

When submitting the manuscript, authors should attach a letter of originality that includes the information omitted in the submitted manuscript, which should also be registered in the journal's website (as metadata) when submitting the manuscript.
The letter of originality should be submitted at the time of submission, as supplementary material.
The metadata of the article will be incorporated into the document when it is accepted and published.
