In recent years, there has been a growing interest in re-educational work with men as a central part of the discourses linked to gender equality and social transformation. In Latin America and Mexico, masculinity as an object of intervention encompasses a variety of approaches aimed mainly at violence prevention and health promotion. It is pertinent to approach these types of programs and initiatives as devices, that is, mechanisms that aim to arrange and guide collective and individual practices. We analyzed the configuration of these devices through the methodological approach of discourse studies and the psychosocial perspective: how they construct problems, solutions and masculinity itself, what lines of action they enable or inhibit, and what mechanisms of subjectivation they make available to their users. The results show three thematic axes related to the construction of a male subject profile as a target of the intervention; the concepts of re-education and learning as main guidelines; and body and emotional management as the core of male physical and mental health. This scenario poses the challenge of generating forms of collective action around the transformation of masculinities and to interrogate critically the implications and risks involved in particular forms of intervention.
